I’m thrilled to share my latest astrophotograph of the distant galaxy NGC 1566, a stunning spiral galaxy located around 60 million light-years away. This image showcases the intricate beauty and dynamic structure of this cosmic wonder, captured and processed using my telescope with over 550 two-minute exposures through a monochrome camera with Ha and LRGB filters.

In 2021, a star within NGC 1566 exploded in a spectacular supernova (SN2021 aefx), briefly outshining its host galaxy. Now, only the faint remnant of this stellar explosion is barely visible, a testament to the transient and ever-changing nature of the cosmos.

This photograph represents countless hours of dedication and passion, blending advanced astrophotography techniques to bring the distant universe closer to home. Enjoy the remarkable NGC 1566, a galaxy full of history and cosmic phenomena.
